What ETalken does
ETalken is a communication app. Users can create personal gestures, AAC board buttons, folders, text phrases, and audio clips for everyday speech.
Information stored on the device
ETalken stores communication profiles on the user's device. A profile may include gesture names, phrases, board buttons, folders, symbols, selected photos, selected audio clips, gesture samples, keyboard settings, and app settings.
Optional account and cloud backup
ETalken can be used without an account. If a user chooses cloud backup, the app uses an email address for sign-in and may upload profile data and selected media so the user can restore it on another signed-in device. Cloud backup is optional and starts only when the user chooses to use it.
Import, export, and sharing
Users can import, export, or share backup files. Backup files may include saved gestures, board buttons, folders, phrases, settings, symbols, selected photos, and selected audio. The user controls when these files are created or shared.
Talking keyboard
If the user enables the ETalken keyboard, it can place selected phrases into text fields in other apps. Keyboard input is handled on the device. Content typed into another app is controlled by that app.
Permissions
ETalken may use internet access for optional account sign-in, cloud backup, purchases, and opening support links. It may use device speech services to speak phrases, vibration for feedback, and file or media access only when the user selects a photo, audio clip, import file, or export location.
Purchases
ETalken may offer a one-time premium purchase. Purchases are handled by the app store used on the device.
Data sharing
ETalken does not sell user data. Data is shared only when needed to provide optional cloud backup, when the user exports or shares a backup file, to support purchases, or when required by law.
Personal content
ETalken does not use personal communication profiles, backups, selected photos, or audio clips to develop machine learning systems.
Security
Cloud backup and sign-in requests use encrypted connections. Local profiles remain on the device unless the user chooses to export, share, or back them up.
Data deletion
Users can delete individual cloud backups, delete all cloud backups, and delete their cloud account from inside the app. Local profiles can be deleted by removing saved profiles in the app or clearing app data from the device. See account and data deletion.
Children and families
ETalken may be used with support from a parent, guardian, caregiver, or teacher. Optional account and cloud backup features should be managed by an adult when used for a child.
